Hello Everyone,
Coaching 18/U Showcase this season. Roster size is 14. This is a larger roster than the usual 11-12 I have had in in the past. I am wondering if any of you have a sub rotation system you could share regarding playing time. Do you rotate after a couple innings? I know not...
I have one on my team that is 55 indoors, never gunned her in a game. My other is 48-50. I have seen a couple this year that were probably 55. This is second year 12/U. 57 is very fast at 12/U.
I disagree....If your doing it for the right reasons, and enjoy coaching, go for it. I did it and it is working out great. The biggest stress for me was making sure I had access to fields in order to practice. My goal was not trophies, but putting together a group of kids that wanted to play...
It blows my mind to think at this level you don't have a solid #2 who gets more than 15 or 20 innings a season. I blame the coach. As far as the Dad, there is no doubt he was feeling for his daughter and didn't want her to go down like that. A loss is one thing, but a complete meltdown is...
I won't allow signing cheers on my bench. I ended that at 10/U...couldn't take it anymore. Now at 12/U they are just cheering each other on by name. Parents love me for it! I see some teams kids screaming with red faces and I just smile and watch their energy just disappear. Those cheers are...
Can a base coach enter fair territory after a ball is hit in play in order to coach his runners....Basically I watched a game the other day and every time there was a decent hit (more than a single) the first base would jump in fair territory beyond first base waving his arms to advance to second.
Been there done that....My daughter hit sooooo many batters when she was first year 10 it was unreal. One game she just broke down. I took her out at her request cause she was blubbering. Best thing that happened was at her next at bat, the ump whispered to her "it's your job to pitch, and...
I think topical ointment is the biggest scam in sports. I am pretty sure she pitched too may innings in a short time and rest/ice is the key. Are you saying at high school level she is the only pitcher they have??
I did this 2 years ago..I took a core group of kids I coached for several years in town ball and started a first year 12/U A team. Go for it, it is not that bad. You need a field! priority number 1 in my opinion. Set your goals.....as in why are you doing this. Inform parents of your plans...
Good for her, she was thinking for herself. The first time my daughter shook me off, I was pretty heated with her. In the same at bat, she was right..the kid jacked the next CU I called.
How does one throw a peel drop with a rise ball release?? Sorry, just doesn't make sense to me. At 11 years old I would move the index finger back to normal. Have the middle finger and thumb directly opposite each other. Put some tape around the ball and work on getting as close to 12-6 spin...
I guess it would depend on the results of your daughter and her catcher. If they are winning games, pace shouldn't matter. i would never want my pitchers, even at 12/U throwing to my rhythm and not theirs. Give it a couple of games, and see what happens. Maybe things will fix themselves. No...
I have seen many umpires completely change their strike zone after a handful of walks. I tell my kids keep hitting YOUR spots, and alot of times by the second inning all is well. Goal is just not to give up too much in that first inning.
