Crystlemc, don't be upset. Screwball has and does make some very good points. There has been this perceived notion that swinging the arm back generates more speed. That is the biggest fallacy related to pitching. If therefore it is not true, then why in the world do it? There is no practical purpose. I know as a hitter, seeing the ball that much longer is a gift from heaven. I have noticed a trend in the women's game where more and more women are keeping the ball in the glove and I believe that it is in large part due to the influx of former men's players in the coaching ranks.
