If this behavior is the "rule" & not the "exception" with this guy, its time to look for another team.

I agree with Slugger, a good team has a back up plan for warm ups in the event the head coach is absent. I have had issues before a tourney, but I call a parent (that has coaching experience) and have them step in and help out. Get the pitchers warmed up, scrounge balls for throwing & a modified soft toss can be done by almost anyone...Have a back up plan.

I think getting the team focused is as important as anything else...
