Also if you shield the rec players from facing the better pitchers, how are they ever going to learn to hit of a great pitcher?

Would have been Story Book in Win totals if your Girls could have pulled a win out of that game. But they may just do it before the season is finished, "GOOD CALL COACH" ant this poop fun :)

I find this thread very heartening (with one exception) and am happy there are so many like minded coaches. In Seattle there is one little league organization that fields 5 or 6 teams of 9-11 years olds and they're all run like travel teams. They pitch their aces most of the game and then reinsert them if they're second pitcher has a bad inning. I don't mean to bash them, but they make up nearly half of our schedule and make me wonder if our league's way of player development and letting those who want to pitch do so, not just if they're good, is a rarity. I'm glad to see so many like minded coaches here.
