My daughter was pitching the last inning of the first-round of league playoffs. Her team had a sizable lead, but with unlimited last inning, we were not completely relaxing. The game was against a team they played earlier in the summer, and that team tied up the game in the bottom of the last inning.
There were two outs, runners on first and second from single and a walk. Two strikes on the batter when she swung and missed. The catcher dropped the ball, and the batter started walking away from the plate. The catcher went for the tag and bobbled the ball, which fell to the ground. All of our teams parents groaned with frustration, thinking the batter was going to make it to first. We didn't know what was going on as we watched the batter walk into the dugout, and she was called out. Game over.
Strange to see the last out of a game coming from a batter walking into the dugout.
What is the most anticlimactic ending you have ever seen?
