When a (beginner) pitcher goes from 6:00 to 9:00 at the start of her motion, at the 9:00 point when her arm is parallel to the ground should her palm be facing
A. down (knuckles up, hand on top of the ball)
B. first base (knuckles toward third)
C. up
D. it doesn't matter - whatever she does naturally

It depends on the pitch, but generally the palm is up or somewhere between facing third and up. Instead of focusing on the hand, focus on leading the pitch with the elbow (same as an overhand throw). Elbow first, then ball, otherwise she's bowling, not pitching.

RH pitcher.

A, at 9:00.

You start coming forward from 6:00 at B, rotated to A at 9:00. Now you are pulling the ball back.

From 9:00 to 3:00 you want a smooth transition occurring at 12:00. NOT a hard jerking jarring twist at 12:00 At 3:00 the ball is now being pushed forward with the hand behind the ball.

At the start the ball is usually facing down with the hand on top of the ball. It will rotate out towards third at 12 and should stay toward third coming down with the elbow leading the way. There is a natural point at the bottom of the circle where the forearm turns over towards home.
