I have 5 and 7 foot Easton nets. I like both, but could use one more large net. We often only get a patch of grass, or a 35x70 foot paved covered area, so the portable nets are great to help break up T, soft toss, machine and live pitching groups. I tried a 7' SKLZ pop up, but it was a pain to set up and take down, so I returned it. Once it was set up, it was actually very useful.

Is there another option out there that works well?

Thanks,
Ken

We have them all and the best I have found is the Bownet with a sock net in the middle. It is very easy to set up and works real well in the wind which is the weakness of many. We do have a Hurricane net and it is great also but not the easiest to set up and if you are dealing with girls who hit it all over the place the fiberglass poles can be damaged but the company is quick to send replacements. I think the Jugs nets are the weakest of the bunch but they are very easy to put up and take down.

I have the same. If you think about rolling a piece of paper into a tube, but diagonally holding a corner, the sides begin to turn in on you. Keep curling the corner and the side corners will almost fold themselves. Once the stakes and poles are pulled, the net can be folded and in the bag in about 30 seconds. Hope that helps.

I've also found that two sections of shock cord about 3/4's the length of the poles helps keep them from popping out with wind and use. Take a couple good zip ties and make loops on the ends. Loop one end over the upper, and the other end over the lower. Seems to keep it together.

I'm with KenB on the Easton nets. Very quick up and down. I love it for tournaments.

There is a knack to closing the booger up that's for sure. Kens description for getting it is dead on.

Don't feel bad Al. I've seen lots of folks fight with the net to get it collapsed. One area team was constantly chasing my wife and I down to fold thiers up for them. It took about 3 tournies to teach the owner to operate it. His problem was he was try force it to do what he thought it should instead of letting it fold like it wanted to. Once he stopped fighting it worked out fine.

Hey welcome aboard Fresh nice to see you over here.

I just re-read my suggestion about making the shock cord. Made no sense to me as I read it. Cut a length of 1/4 inch cord and make small loops that would fit around a ping pong ball, using a couple good zip ties to secure the loops. After setting up your net, take the cords and loop the ends over the plug on top, and the spike on the bottom. Hope that made more sense.

Fresh/rowdy,
I'm going to try a Bownet soft toss next year--thanks.
