from what i thought i had learned over the years from lessons and research and this forum was that somewhat open shoulder mechanics and limitting the hips to 45 to 52 degrees whould help keep the stress off the pitching shoulder, and also keeping the natural whip (ir) to the pitching arm using the elbow, wrist and fingers to throw and spin the ball, instead of closing the shoulder to muscle the ball, or pull it around. It seems video of many pitchers even on the model pitchers thread look like they get their glove hands away from their body especially on breaking balls, and looks like they are getting their pitching shoulder involved a lot, pulling that ball around. I have tried to discourage this in my pitchers. Have i been to paranoid about their shoulder health, or should you try and keep as much shoulder shoulder stress out of the delivery.
