On our last team I built a site in Wordpress. It's free, though I paid $18 for the year to get a real site name (www.sitename.com instead of wordpress.sitename.com). It's not specific to sports but I added a calendar for the schedule. Actually it looks like the site is still up even though the team is history, if you want to check it out. It was pretty easy to do.

Not sure what features you are looking for, but TeamSnap has a lot of features, plus creates a public website for non team member. I use it for 2 football teams and softball

On your roster, each player should have a shutterfly proflie too! Thats what we did.
