it's certainly looking better now than it was 2 weeks ago.....mid 40's, light rain and some breeze today into tonight........46 and sunny with wind tomorrow, should eat most of that snow up.......then we can start drying, but we have weather coming in saturday and again next wednesday.....shouldn't be any real snow, but enough to slow the drying process

we have a home scrimmage 4/8, so we'll see.....

we started conditioning this week......used to be pitchers & catchers, now it is everyone....we can only throw and work out, no coaching of actual softball, no softball skill work.....practice for reals starts monday

Unfortunately, I do. The coach of the 27 team is a 400 lb bully. We made the mistake of letting our daughter play for him last season. He's a classless piece of garbage. Han Solo would describe him as a "Slimy piece of worm-ridden filth." He gets thrown out of 25% of the games he coaches due to him cursing at umpires and his own players. He is an embarrassment.
OMG - we played at a field right next to them last year and he was coaching 3rd base, I couldn't believe what was coming out of his mouth - a lot of it directed at his own players. I was happy when they lost

Finally starting in CT…HS tryouts are complete. First day (Monday) DD started with a bang, forgetting her cleats at home, and having mom deliver them 45 seconds before warmups started.

24 girls tried out, no one was cut (i.e. all made either JV or V), none of the 6 Freshman (all very solid TB players) made varsity. The basic message delivered to all of them in the individual meetings yesterday was – you’re a good player, nothing is permanent, but unless you were dropping bombs in live hitting, you weren’t making Varsity. That said, they’ll have an excellent JV team and get plenty of reps.

Things change pretty fast. Two unexplained quitters means 2 freshman got pulled up to V (not my DD), and one of them hit a game winning pinch hit HR against a top 10 team in the state in the opening game.

Kind of blows up our JV team unless those girls double roster (pitcher and catcher), but great for them.

The foot of snow we got on 4/1 didn't help, but I saw dirt on the infield for the first time yesterday, getting closer.

Still haven't made it outside yet, high of 31F today but 60's by the weekend and 70's early next week. Luckily we had early snow this year so the frost isn't terribly deep, everything should dry up quickly.

So far, we have played three games this season on Long Island, with one game rained out last Saturday. Yesterday was around 60F during the game, but it got clammy towards the end because of all the moisture making its way in from the Atlantic Ocean. Spring on Long Island can have several seasons in a few hours. We get warm weather, but because the ocean is still so cold, the fog rolls in and drops the temperature by 15-20 degrees in an hour. And it's always windy.

The good thing is we are 3-0 to start the season. The bad thing is we have a game today that's likely to be played in a steady drizzle or light rain.
