BM,I have to say that ever since coming to this site,I myself have been rather excited about learning everything that there is about IR.My dd is 13yo now and about 3 1/2 years ago,I felt that there was something wrong with the way that the local PC where teaching.I know that Bill, has said this many times. How do the top pitchers in the world throw.Well the local PC where not teaching what the top pitchers where doing. They where teaching the hello elbows and slam the door shut.I hope that you and others on this site keep finding answers or at least keep posseing the questions, that I myself want to see and hear.

BoardMember, I appreciate what what you've shared with us.

I was surprised when I shot a video of my DD to see exactly her arm and hand motion during the drop. The arm and hand movement is simply IR on steroids, except in the vertical plane.

When speaking of IR, relative to the throwing 'arm', one is generally speaking of the rotation of the upper arm (i.e., the humerus). The terms 'pronation' and 'supination' are generally used to describe the rotation of the forearm ... not IR.

Fair enough, I realize that I sound like a 13-year-old boy talking about women to anybody who really knows this stuff. : ) But I feel like I know *something* when I have discussions like a recent one with a father who insisted that the hand had to be behind the ball all the way and finish straight up -- "Just look at pro bowlers," he said. (rolling eyes) I said yeah, I can't figure why the windmill bowling style isn't more commonly seen.

Ray, thanks for posting the pictures. would you consider posting them individually? DD is learning the drop and I can't zoom in enough. Not to mention that is a great example of IR. If too much trouble don't worry about it.

Thanks,
Tim

And to give everyone the tools to further the game from the pitching stand point..........

I believe.....At least through this forum........I've accomplished that goal.........
Your original reply was in response to a video I posted of my daughter. You'll never know how many young kids in my community (a very good softball town) have benefitted from the IR post through my help. Dad's if your PC tells you something different move on. I just shake my head when I see girls in town struggling like crazy with hello elbow. I'm sad for them and help whenever their dads and moms are willing to listen.

It means that the girl releases the ball, and brings her arm straight up, making a muscle. She points her elbow at the catcher.
