Last week, I found a black 13” Mizuno glove sitting on the IF tarp after our practice.

Not wanting to leave it out in the open, I put it in the covered dugout.

Today, the first day the fields were re-opened after the mid-Atlantic got dumped on by the remnants of Ophelia, I found the glove - still in the dugout, but now on the floor of the equipment cage, where it seemed to be doing double duty as a sponge.

It’s not “wring it out” wet, but definitely heavier than it should be.

Any suggestions for next steps? Use glove cleaner now (while it’s already wet?), or let it dry first?

How to dry it? Air dry? Shove newspaper in the hand stall? Leave it on the car dashboard?

I don’t even know whose glove this is, but it was fairly new, so I think it’s a worthwhile project to try and save it.

Thx as always for the help.

Clean it now. No use it getting it wet twice. Let it dry in the house (not close to a heat source). Once dry, condition with your favorite conditioner. That notch at the bottom of the palm indicates to me it is a glove designed for 8-10U at most.

Good luck!

It’s a 13”, and it felt like real leather throughout the glove - it’s an MVP Select, so I’m assuming it retails for around $100?

I ended up cleaning it last night, tried to shape more of a pocket into it (basket webs don’t seem to take much of any shape), stuffed paper towels in the finger stalls, and wrapped it in a chamois cloth and towel.

Still damp this morning, so will give it another day or so to finish drying. Cleaned up nicely so far.

Pocket seems to be shaped a little better now:

And here I was expecting your only comment to be “it’s got velcro, it’s not worth saving”. :)

If it works for cell phones, it should work for gloves, right? Hoping to get it dried before any odor sets in.

Thx.

my only concern would be you don't necessarily want to pull ALL the moisture out of a glove the way you would for a phone. wouldn't leave it for too long
