Some hitting coaches teach the importance of follow-through to the point of having batters hit their own back to show they are "swinging all the way through".
I do not believe the OP is talking about extension here.. it's more about her swing stops after contact a little more sudden than most, know what I mean?Some fastpitch coaches/instructors have been teaching this nonsense for at least 25 years. My own kids learned this.
Please don't do this. It teaches you to extend your hands/elbow at the ball.
Not a single MLB hitter does this.

The green is the rear forearm and bat. The yellow is where they should be (roughly). She has lost half her leverage (power) at the start. This also means she must extend her arms more (less power) to get to bat head ahead of the hands at contact.
Pull the back elbow back like a bow as you stride forward. Don't let it drop prematurely.
