No softball this weekend. Catching up on laundry from Monster Mash last week and 2 days of elk hunting. DD1 has Homecoming this Sat. nite. We are finally all home Sunday to celebrate someone's Birthday finally.
Weekend off for the girls but the parents will be busting our tails at 'Dega for our biggest fundraiser of the year. We sell drinks during the race and it is looking like we will have warm temps this weekend so the beer and sodas will be selling well. As much work as it is we haven't paid a dime for any team expenses in three years. Everyone takes care of the cost for ASA registration and uni's but the team covers everything else with what we make on two races a year.
Going tomorrow to DeMarini in O'Fallon, IL with the 18s. Four other teams in a qualifier in Pekin. Even though the last couple of weekends have been pretty nice, hoping for a rain free weekend!
DD is guesting for a friend of mine this weekend in MD at a 14U event. This is her first time guesting and I'm realizing parents don't like the guest player all that much, especially the parents of the other catchers. Should be interesting.
DD is also playing in O'Fallon, IL at the Demarini Showase. Second to last tourney of the year (they will also play Surf City next month).
Interesting note about DD's team. Last week the catcher, a 2018 grad, coming off a three homer in consecutive at bats performance in Indianapolis two weeks ago, verbally committed to a D1 school (Big 10), making her the 9th D1 commit on the roster. That roster was 13 deep at the time, but we JUST added a 4th pitcher, so the roster is now 14. Anyway, I know you folks from CA or GA are quite used to travel ball rosters where nearly all of the players are committed to D1 schools, but here in MN, it is HIGHLY unusual. Perhaps even unprecedented.
