If it’s any help, I think they grow out of it. DD (15 YO) rarely hits batters; she’s much more likely to miss outside. But she was pitching a varsity game this past high school season and a batter came up (who she had told me the previous week had been talking trash about our team to some of her male friends). The pitch ended up hitting her squarely in the ribs.
I asked DD if she did it on purpose. She said, “No. But she was standing over the plate, so I threw it inside. I guess it got away from me a little bit.” (Note: I can only assume that her catcher who calls the pitches called an inside pitch.)
