She's looks to be doing what she can to avoid brush assisted whip .....

Funny observation, given that's exactly what we worked on tonight. Of course, getting her to actually do it was difficult.

P.S. How do you get the clip to show?

Just a theory I have ... and I'd love to hear the thoughts from others on it ... but with respect to the forearm, the more supinated it is going into the brush assisted interference, the more whip you'll get. Here we see your student pronating early and without the assistance from brush interference.

She definitely pronates early. I'm trying to get her to keep the supination until her elbow reaches her upper hip.

Also, I didn't mean to take this thread in a different direction.

You weren't kidding. You really were working on brush interference .... and IMO that's exactly what she needs to work on. Probably may need to isolate the action from the 9 O'Clock position first and then backwards chain from there to the K position.

We worked on the 9 O'clock position for 35 minutes, then I had her work on it from the K position for the last 20 minutes. She did do better with the brush interference with the 9 O'clock, because it was without the step and she could put more attention on it. I had to continually remind her to stand tall rather than bend at the waist.

While some here have mentioned that this interference thing isn't much to focus on, I think it's significant.

It's hugely significant IMO.

IMO you described the goal well ... retain the supination in the forearm until assisted 'release' from the brush interference.

Here's the segment I wanted Rick to comment on earlier today ....

Thanks FFS, she definitely needs to point at home (preferably) or at least towards third. We've talked about this numerous times but it gets away as we work on other aspects of the pitch during k-drills. As the ball passes through nine to seven, for a good wrist rotation, the closer the ball faces upward the better chance for a good "snap."

What I try to get across to her is that, at toe touch, we want a shockwave of energy to travel up through her legs, torso, shoulder, and finally arm. This is throwing off of front side resistance. I swear she had the I/R snap down for a bit but then lost it as we moved to a full stride. Now we're back to trying to find the arm whip with rotating wrist snap. I'm trying to accomplish a couple of years worth of work into a ten month period. She's a hard worker, we may make it.

Here is a post of her pitching in a scrimmage last spring. She was a back up pitcher and the starter wasn't much better. The starter graduated so I'm doing everything I can to turn her into a serviceable pitcher before the playoffs late next spring.

As you can see...both she and I have our work cut out for us.

So here is a video from a couple of weeks ago. She's making great progress. We've worked on straightening the arm out on the upswing and landing with a little more force on the stride to create more resistance and energy. We're also back to working on arm whip (IR). This is a long battle my friends. She's come a long ways already though. She pitched a few innings in a game about six weeks ago, no control problems in the sense of walking or hitting batters. The ball moved somewhat from one plane to another which caused the batters to chip at her pitches. It was a good outing. She's half way to where she'll need to be starting next May.
