To justanotherguy point of bat making a difference hitting off a tee.

Could timing exit speed off a tee then help in selecting a better bat?
*Just a question....

( yes aware there are other factors in hitting live pitching)

Are you agreeing if you or dd used the same bat say 6 months apart it could measure those two as a compairison?
Just sharing i do recognize what you are considering.

If we're talking about a composite bat, I wouldn't consider it an equal comparison. The composite bat could have broken in more since then, or started to degrade. A wood bat I'd consider about as close to you can get to being a non-factor. Not trying to argue just for arguements sake, so sorry if it comes off that way.

How about this question

Could compare
Same size & weight different brands?

I do understand the considereration of bat and results.
Then would be the discussion why is measuring this important to people?

Wood bat could have differences also.
For that matter other things like hiiting on a field into the wind vs with the wind can make a difference.
Same with throwing or pitching.

To that point best controlled atmosphere may = best resluts.

I think the assumption may be is that the kid is using the ideal bat for them and their swing so would show what they have.

I look at the ODM testing as a way to at least gauge a level of ability. Just like anything, analysis paralysis, however baseline info is useful.

If kids shave and roll the composite bats, then they may be getting some super high exit speed numbers which would be a problem. But if bat speed is 50 and exit speed is 105, there is something wrong. haha.
