Linda Ann Todd, nee Stemming, 64, of Columbia, died. Jan. 3, 2015 She taught and coached there for 32 years.
But, we were both from Shelbyville, IL. and she taught me to play 2nd base. I was 11, so she would have been about 14 and I thought she was a sports star. I can remember her being at SS and she came over and told me what the area was that she could cover. She said "I can't cross over past 2nd base." I am certain that I would have been happy to let her cover everything. For a couple of years, I thought that was a rule. Finally, I figured out that she was saying she couldn't physically play 2nd base, too.
The things that you remember about people.
