Portland and the PNW have a lot to do. Food, art, music, wine. The coast, public lands, and mountain all within a couple hours drive. Washington is just across the river. The only bummer is the rain. For 3 months the weather is awesome. The other 9….meh.

Source: I lived there for 21 years.

We love Portland...Maddie, especially. We had some very good friends who liked in Tigard for a while, and we've visited with them a couple of times, plus been to the area for other reasons. Maddie loves the cool, gloom, and green trees.

We lived in the Hillsboro area (20-30min from Tigard). One of the biggest things we miss is the “wine country”. Incredible views from some of the wineries.

There’s so much for someone her age to do. Sounds like she’d love it. Very cool.

She's really excited about the possibility, and I'm hopeful everything works out for her.

Some action from last weekend's showcase games...

We're seeing a definite change in her predominant flight pattern. A year ago, she was mostly a pure pull hitter, struggling with outside pitches, and hunting middle-in. Her contact point was out front, even on outside pitches. Over the last few months, we've seen an adjustment to being more inside-out with her barrel path, and letting the ball get a little deeper. The result is an improved ability to hit pitches on the outside half with power, and drive them over the RF fence. So far this fall, she's batting .485, and has more HRs than 1Bs.

This is exactly what DD needs to be working on. She used to be a gap to gap hitter, now it's become CF to left foul. Struggles with the outside pitch. The issue is I can't help her anymore and she hasn't got much hitting instruction in the past 2 years. Good news is the new HC is an experience hitting coach and brought on 2 volunteer asst coaches to spread the load. Hopefully we can get to the cages over the winter break.
