watching the Auburn vs Creighton Softball game on ESPN3 reply. Before I start. I love softball. I love great Pitching, Fielding, hitting and coaching. Probably in that ordered. But I am always watching the pitchers. Looking style, approach, technique and anything else that goes foot alley given to pitchers. I have put in a image. I just don't understand why umpires let this go on.

I'm not sure there is a violation. The left foot looks like it would be in contact with the left pitcher lane line, which would be legal.

NCAA Rule 10.4.2 In distinguishing the pitcher’s feet, the pivot foot is the one that maintains contact with the pitcher’s plate, absorbs the body’s weight,
pushes off against the plate during the initial “step” phase of the pitch, and drags along the ground during the final phase of the pitch. The stride foot
is the one that extends forward toward home plate as the pitcher steps to deliver the pitch to the batter. The stride foot must land on or within the lines of the pitcher’s lane. For a right-handed pitcher, the pivot foot is her right foot and the stride foot, her left.

If you want to debate illegal pitches watch the Auburn vs. SIUe game from Thursday night. SIUe pitcher has a replant and Auburn's Carlson looks like she steps out of the pitching lane on every pitch.

Carlson's mechanics look strange to me, a novice with pitching. She obviously gets results, but am I correct in suggesting she probably shouldn't be used as a model pitcher? She looks to clear her hips out of the way when she pitches, doesn't get much (if any) brush, and as JAD said she looks like she's out of the pitching lane or close to it quite often.

Not sure if she's been discussed here, but I'm wondering if I'm seeing the right things when I watch her.

You are correct on both of them. Thanks for pointing them out. She is the same one that pitched against Creighton. I realize that the alley pitching lines are gone, but seriously that is so obvious. And what better time to bring her in when there are no lines for the umpires to see. Same is true for the SIUe pitcher. Just like the Miss. State pitcher Silkwood. Someone should send a copy to the SEC Softball Commissioner and ask (or demand) why or how this can continue to go on. And what a bad example it is showing the younger pitchers. It just amazes me how this is allowed. I wonder if the coaches say nothing. I have ranted about this before and probably too much.

Rumor I am hearing is that Corey Myers is trying to change all of the Auburn's pitchers mechanics based off of recommendation by their Kinesiology department. Will be interesting to see how that works out for them.
