How have you guys, gals, worked on timing the whip and the push back together? Weve been working on dd's whip, she could use alittle more bend, but the main problem seems to be she's missing the timing of pushing back as she releases the ball. I can feel it, but relaying it on to her hasn't clicked just yet. We've been doing long toss, not worrying about where the ball is going, just emphasizing a couple of things, stride leg pushing back into the throw, and turning that drive leg loose, letting it come into the stride knee. Kinda pulling everything together into the whip. Java commented once in a thread about her "sliding into her front side". I didnt undestand at the time, but that exactly what we're looking for. She's goes from one extreme to the other, either locking out or pushing back too late. Looking for ways to get her to feel that. Ideas??

Back on the dirt...
Instead of long toss have you tried " as hard as your can" into a net or tarp? There is a little faster feed back with the shorter throw.

Someone more experienced will hopefully reply. This what worked for me.

Do you have some video or some still pics to illustrate what you mean?

I'm interpreting your description as her lacking front side resistance...CP

We have a net setup in the basement. It'll probably end up being a place where most of this plays out. Just gonna take more work on the timing aspect of her whip. I was hoping to show her, if she tied her pushback and her whip together, it may end up being into a longer tossed ball. Give her some feedback that way.

It is front side resistance. But dealing with the timing of it. I see younger pitchers that haven't found, or gotten the timing down. Pushing back into the throw, release. This is where we are. She's pushing back, it's just not timed with her release, so she's really not benefitting from it right now. Trying to simplify it for her to understand.

Need to see a clip.
Lack of FSR is often a result of a late front foot landing or an early arm...
Transferring energy kinetically has to have a proper sequence and rhythm.
Post a clip!
