Just a comment that I think fits into the advice you have received: A majority of her power is coming from the front side pushing backwards. It would be more efficient to have a majority of power coming from the rear side going forward.

Hey! We agree. I believe in push back, but it should be a reaction to force coming forward, not the supplier of force.

She is spinning the back foot instead of pushing off of it. And, as others pointed out, she sways the back knee over the foot, and the foot is pointing a bit toward the catcher.

She also has a hand path that takes her hands down to the front hip, which is not good.

Well - it looks like she is pushing and as Booth will point out - the rear leg will ER from the pushing action....but that is not what you want the rear leg to do.....unless you favor Yeager mechanics....push / block / stall / spin /

I agree that her rear leg is not being used properly.

Since you don't understand Yeager or myself, of course you think we are wrong. Maybe some day you'll understand.

You can try this a couple of ways to get them to start to feel it

Throw from sideways position without a stride - without lunging forward - working the rear leg as the you bring the ball up
Throw with the front foot off the ground - try not to let the front foot come down
Swing with the front foot off the ground - try not to let the front foot come down
Stretch and Fire drill from HI.

All of the above need the player to create the real action behind the rear hip -

Perfect example of external rotation force applied to the weighted leg.

This could be used in a bio-mechanics textbook. 9 muscles in the leg/pelvic area are applying a twisting force upon the femur, which causes the pelvis to open up. Then the obliques and other muscles in the torso help turn the shoulders.

Now its "external rotation force".....hopefully everyone at home is not trying to apply external rotation force to their daughter's swing....

What do you mean "NOW?" It's what I've been saying all along.

You don't have to "TRY" to apply external rotation force. Your body does it. It's the only way it can open the hips when you're standing on one leg, or have the back leg fully weighted.

You get from neutral to an externally rotated position, from activation of the muscles that connect the pelvis to the femur. They pull the greater trochanter of the head of the femur in a posterior direction, which opens the pelvis if you have weight on the back leg, or twists the toes away from the body, if the leg is unweighted.

Now thats SEPERATION:cool:
What this slap hit clip shows is some serious lower and upper body seperation. by back hurts just watching it.
oh were trying to show that just the back leg is suppling the power?
I wonder if that front foot, which is now her back foot(ow), is also pushing foward?

Thats good humour. I saved that.
She hit this one out?
If you wanted a model, for old school (middle school)(astro turf days), what a great way to demonstrate the power of a LINEAL swing.
So your point is well made, and i now understand more about where you are coming from MTS.
So you just teach your students to run towards the pitcher, and THRUST your hips at the ball. Keep up the good work

If you don't understand or can't see it - that's fine.....

The slapper is behind her rear hip - it does not matter which foot is forward she swinging lefty so her left hip / leg is the one she is using....
