After the reversed out at home, Corey Myers was yelling at the umps, "they bought you!".

That was one of the worst calls, softball or baseball, I have ever seen.

As bad as the foul ball grand slam at Florida vs USF a few days earlier?

The ball was bouncing around in the glove! 3rd base blue had a good angle lol.

While I think the blues got it wrong and were too quick to reverse the original call; the ball was near the top of the glove and the catcher didn't do herself any favors by reaching into the glove to better secure the ball. In real time the 3rd base ump saw lots of yellow, the catcher reach into her glove, and thought the ball was bobbled during the tag.

I did not watch that game but that call was mentioned during the FL v Au broadcast so evidently it was memorable.

It is the HP umpire's job to make any call on a play at home plate. I have never seen a HP ump defer to someone 60 feet away for help on a play at the plate. Heck, sometimes they won't even ask for help on a checked swing. The ump should have told Walton, "I don't need help. She was out".

And he was probably right...that was a HORRIBLE call.

It is not unusual for an umpire to have a god awful zone or for a pitcher to occasionally leap without any conscious attempt to gain a competitive advantage. But it is a totally different for an umpire to call a zone unequally or make calls based on their personal bias. Or for a player to know full well they are competing illegally, realize a competitive advantage by doing so and continue because they can get away with it. The former examples have some performance issues and it is not a reflection on their character. However, if true most would consider the latter examples cheats, with serious character flaws. I may not have this right but I think that based on the season so far, and especially the games last week many observers are beginning to conclude that there might be some serious issues of character regarding the Gator softball program.
