    Swing Update

Been a while...Little One is now 13. Indoor soccer is ending :) If we ever get some nice weather, we can get outside and begin to gear up for the softball season! I'm convinced Tee work has become redundant for her, as her tee swing is greatly different from her game swing. Here is a clip...

Little DD wants to hit lefty

Little DD has expressed an interest to hit lefty. This attempt looks pretty good to me. Enough ability and upside to here to actually present to the coach?

low back pain, how common is the dreaded pars fracture?

So just trying to generate a little discussion and hopefully some hope as we wait to find out DD's diagnosis. first and foremost, I am not looking for medical advice or diagnosis, just maybe your story or feedback on the topic, as we cope with the stress of waiting for official word. We have...

    Leaving contact with the Rubber

This recent gif posted in another thread shows great drive...but with respect to the right foot, how often do you see this getting called illegal in say 12U? 14U?

    difference in demarini -11 cf5 cf6 cf7 cf8

Little DD has a cf6 that she loves 29/18. Big DD has a Cf5 that she loves 30/20 Looking to get another 29/18 or 30/19 Demarini for little DD. Online I see options to buy them all new all they way back to cf5 at certain stores on closeout. Question, has the technology changed that much? Spend...

    another pitching mat thread

I have read all of the threads and have been unable to come away with a solid game plan. Looking to "bump" the conversation. Need to make or buy a pitching mat for my basement practice area, currently pitching off an area rug that does sometimes slip...

    Latest vid DD #2

Posting a couple of vids. It is this time of year that we begin to get "out of "practice" as it is 30 degrees in the area and it is indoor work only. We unfortunately continue to work without a pitching coach but, we are at the same time very fortunate to get amazing feedback from the people...

    Catcher mitt for bucket dad?

Father of a soon to be 12U and 14U. Outfield glove busted again. I figure I will get either a first base or catchers mitt to continue serving as Bucket Dad. In the $50-$75 range what would you look at? Louisville zephyr 32.5" looks decent and broken in? too small for adult? Mizuno 34"...

    Minor Thumb Fracture

DD injured her thumb yesterday. Stupid soccer! Anyone experienced this injury? There is very minimal displacement. It is her NON throwing hand. It is not in the growth plate. Of course the recommended instructions are rest and Ice, and a splint. They say a minimal fracture of this variety...

    still much work to do

Hello all: DD still small for her age is hitting a little growth spurt. Her swing is getting stronger. The results in game are much more consistent. She actually almost hit one out of the park last week against a decent speed high fastball! :) Still much much room for improvement, of...

called out for not touching home

DD was called out over the weekend for not touching home plate. Despite the fact that I think she did, we were more amazed by the circumstances. Overheard umpire encouraging the catcher to get the ball and step on home. Runner was called out for missing home plate and proceeding to dug out...

    playing in foul territory?

can a player be positioned in foul territory? say pull hitter, LF plays in foul? or better yet, say tying run on third, close game, infield in. Can you take an infielder and position them behind the catcher to protect against the wild pitch?

How many HBP is too many? 10U

I was hoping to gather some perspective for my little DD with regards to her pitching in "town league". To be frank it is NOT a very competitive league, even as far as town leagues go. She has now hit 4 batters in 6 innings, including 2 girls out of 3 batters last night. Each time tears have...

    at it again

We were at one of those MLB pitch hit and run contests. The key here is to hit a long fly ball. It's a different thing all together from the fast pitch swing and I saw a different looking swing from both DD's. Please tell me thoughts on this swing and what is needed for improvement. ? thanks

    video camera

OK, so there are plenty of OLD threads on this. what's the newest recommendation for softball related video recording? I would want something for video and analysis and in game footage, preferably with a powerful zoom when being real close to the field is not an option. What's the deal with...
