I'm surprised I couldn't find more discussion of balls on the forum. What's everyone's favorite game balls/and or practice balls?
We have bought from Sterling in the past but they seem to be out of stock of all of their balls. I have also heard some discussion recently of different...
Pitching instructors, now that all of the major rulesets have been more standardized to allow pitchers to step back with their stride foot are you working this into your lessons? Seems like pitchers who are stubborn about doing things the "old way" will be at a disadvantage?
DD3 is a 14U pitcher. She is a very strong fielder who tries to help out by making plays while she's in the circle. Occasionally, this gets her in trouble as she may tip a ball while trying to make a play that our SS or 2B might have gotten easily.
Does anyone tips for teaching aggressive...
Wondering what folks think is the best way to evaluate hitting at tryouts? Seems like competitive, live pitching is the easy answer but with a big group of girls doing this in a productive way is difficult.
We've defaulted to front toss on the field with additional stations in cages for...
2004 pitcher, pitching for two years. We have some specific things we're working on but I'd be interested to hear what the folks on the board have to say.

10U DD is a 2004 with decent velocity for a 65 pounder and good control (about 2/3 strikes so far this season). She's developed a bit of a problem with bending at the waist at release (Not uncommon, I know). It disrupts her command and is a drain on speed, long term it doesn't seem too healthy...
We are doing a large batting cage renovation at our park. We have 2 factions, one that believes "hard" cages with chain link fencing is better and one that believes using netting is a safer and better solution. Softball geeks of DFP, please let me hear your opinions on this!
Last winter I got my 12U DD the -11 CF5 and we love it. She's small and its the best bat we've owned, hot! I'm interested in getting one for 10U DD. Has anyone heard how the new CF6 compares to the CF5? I've learned that newer is not always better.
Thanks.
My 2001 DD is a first year 12U pitcher. She's very small with average velocity but is a competitor who's good at hitting locations and keeping hitters off balance. She's been working on a flip change for about a year. Its been somewhat effective but the problem is that it floats so slow that...
My 8 YO DD has Sever's syndrome in her heel and wearing cleats is the worst thing she can do. The doctor basically says that cleats are uncomfortable and the best thing is to limit how long she wears them. Has anyone found cleats that are really comfortable. I know some of you have kids...
10U Rec All Stars Tourney this weekend playing ASA rules. My DD throws a very slow changeup which goes right at the batters leg. Not only does she not try to move she tries to catch the ball with her left hand (don't ask me to explain why she would do this). Umpire awards 1st base...
Need some maintenance advice. Our Rec league suffers from the huge holes in front of the pitcher's plate like many parks do. We are hosting a tournament in a few weeks and want the fields in the best shape possible. What are the best ways you've seen to address this both short and long term...
My 10 YO DD is small 4'5" about 65 lbs with a quick bat. She's been hitting a Miken Halo Light 29/16.5. I've noticed that it seemed like she was maybe overly quick with it so I pulled an old Easton aluminum 29/19 out of the garage and she started crushing it. So I'm in the market for a new...
Would love some feedback on this sequence of my 9YO DD's pitching. This is from a recent game. I know that video would better but this is what I have. She's very small but pretty athletic and has worked hard.
Any thoughts would be great. I see the glove swimming off toward 1st base in...
In the process of trying to improve leg drive, my 9 YO DD has developed a bit of a leaping issue. On our game field its almost imperceptible because the hole in front of the rubber is so large. We practice on flat ground at home (basement floor on a large piece of astroturf with a rubber...
All, does anyone have a recommendation on the best instructional hitting DVD's for my 7 yr old? She's played one year of rec ball and is really motivated to improve. I want to make sure we are doing the right things. Thanks.
