Mine is a 2022, first ranked fall of her 8th grade year. First year of playing D1 where everyone is good and those rankings don’t mean anything. She enjoyed the rankings and handled the expectations all 4 years of HS. A few HS state titles and one PGF Top 10 helped validate. Many of her friends were not ranked and went on to play D1 and D2.
As I said previously in this thread, for most they will be a positive. I am glad your DD was one of them.

She worked hard and the best ranking she earned was being respected by her opponents. The ranking got her foot in the door but it was her play that sold it. Class of 2022 recruiting was hit hard by Covid, so early rankings helped those kids to keep coaches engaged once Sept 1 came around.

Until the Bandits or Thunderbolts come to town. Then the west coast runs off with their tail between their legs.;)

or the west coast

goes and starts a new organization that the Bandit or Thunderbolts don't play in that way the west coast can win again.:LOL:
Thats the spirit, lol!

I don’t think anyone truly knows who the “top players” are at that age.

Ranking them is an awful idea.

Eads and his ilk can eat my shorts.

Just another way scumbag org heads can perpetuate their nonsense and empower college coaches to take the absolute laziest approach to recruiting there is.

And why? Because evaluating talent is what almost every coach at every level SUCKS at.

I don’t disagree on the lazy recruiting. Saw a NSR rep promoting a 2028 kid on Twitter. Same NSR rep was also clutching the pearls at ranking the same class.

That said, I just like debating and if they don’t go away I won’t lose any sleep 😂

This is exactly what I was trying to say, but you said it much better.

I do think there is some merit to the argument that rankings bring attention to the sport (sort of on the theory that any publicity is better than none). Otherwise I think they are just feeding a machine that isn’t as well understood as it should be.
