I’m not sure why this is a good swing? Looking at the swing without blowing it up to really see isn’t productive.

The arms are used, the hands are dead until out front, The hands and barrel collapse into the body as the hands are dead and the arms are used.

The helicopter drill will help with turning the barrel with the hands. The arms support to hands.

It’s a good swing because she is 8 years old. The lower half is solid, she is controlled and balanced. What she does with her hands/bat is the same thing many young girls do with theirs. I am confident as she gets older that will work itself out.

No the lowerbody isn’t solid.

There is no corner nor maintaining a corner. She starts with the hands behind the back foot and the weight back, then shifts weight forward. The hands rarely ever get beyond the back foot.

The coil is weak, then she shifts forward (weight shifts), losing any load of the backside up into the upper as the barrel/hands collapse into the body as they come forward.

It’s all sloppy. No slingshot.

IMO I regret doing a bunch of stuff with my DD at that age and earlier. It's one if the most stupidest things I did. I really wish I could change that, but water under the bridge. All that to say leave her alone and if your going to work on stuff, help her with timing. If you want to do the helicopter drill. Go for it, but beyond that, my suggestion is do nothing. She doesn't look to have any major issues that is going to hinder her at this point.

Do you have a video with a pitcher in view to see when she gets going?

What does it mean to maintain a corner?

And what does a slingshot look like?

I think if you click the link in the original post you can see the pitcher. I think the hands being more involved will help her timing too

Ok thanks. I see that now my bad. She seems to have a decent dance with the pitcher, going on. Without a doubt getting the hands more involved will help. Such as the helicopter drill will help, by getting the barrel out. As of right now the barrel is not being released and is being dragged through the zone to the ball. But that is nothing out of the ordinary for players her age or even older.

Let me be honest, everything about a corner, coil etc. that @Shawn is talking about should be something for you to learn about, but has no value to your player at this point in the game. That being said I would use the search function and read the threads concerning those things. IMO of course.
