I was just pointing out, that IF the middle moves you, the barrel path will take care of itself. Tewks was the left side, abaf. Cabrera was the right side, core driven In comparison to TDS post earlier.. that will determine if the path will be too steep for the most part.

The interesting thing is that we both prefer the same swing regardless of what words we use. Doesnt make either of us wrong. Just different.

Do the pros ever give this explanation? Lauren Chamberlain doesn't say that in that "demo" she does. She says that's how she swings in games. Chopping down on the ball to impart backspin. It's perfectly clear. Nothing about isolating hand path.

Most of these clips are .gifs so there is no commentary so maybe they do explain it in more detail and I just haven't seen it.
No they don't unfortunately.

But do you understand FYB, posture etc? If so, you should be able to connect the dots. Why would you discard this valuable golden nugget of information the pros give us because they don't explain the entire process?

I went to a big data seminar 10 years ago. A leading expert was speaking and talked about the key aspects of data science and big data. He didn't have time to go into details, but I was interested in the field and he was the expert. I researched what he said, found out other experts were saying the same thing and connected the dots. Today I am a lead reporting and automation consultant. What he said back then helped shape my career today.

My point is, professionals often talk about the most important things in the little time they have... why ignore it? 99% of them say/demo/practice the same thing

Did you see Hudgens Power hitting DVD? That’s where he swings and he explains his mechanics of the swing.
If you're asking about his "Hitting for Excellence" DVD set, I bought Dave's original 7 VHS tape (are you familiar with what VHS tapes are? 😉😁) back in 2002, which is how I first learned his stuff. I won't tell you how much I paid for them at the time, but just that they were multiple, multiple, multiple times more expensive than the DVD set is now.

Then 6 months later at a "Father and Son" (yes, not "PC" yet back then) hitting clinic he put on that filled up an entire side of a HS gymnasium bleachers with participants; is where he saw my boys swinging it, asked me where they learned that, and when I said "From you through you videos series"...is how or why he contacted me several days later, and asked if I'd like to go to Phoenix (I live in SoCal) to be in his first certified instructors class that he was just starting at the time.

Now it could have been that he saw my sons' swings, felt sorry for them, and thought I needed more 1on1 instruction to get me, and subsequently my boys' swings better. 🤦‍♂️😖 But I'm going to stick with the "he liked their swings so much" version for my own peace of mind. 😜😀

It could also be you were the only one who bought his VHS tapes (which I unfortunately do remember and have used) LOL

Do you see a difference between AJ's launch position when he is on time compared to the gif of Cabrera? I think maybe if you see a difference then that will explain what @TDS is trying to explain. Personally I don't like AJ's move out which effects this position at launch imo..

I think we all know why AJ swings like that, same with why top prospect Scott Kingery is languishing in the minors now, and Ian Happ is an afterthought in the Cubs lineup this year, with almost 2x the amount of Ks than he has hits (92Ks vs 48 hits). Find the common denominator, fix the problems? 🤷‍♂️

It can be misleading, but has it not been explained on this forum repeatedly? I consider you a knowledgeable person, it should no longer be a puzzle for you. I'm now finding that the pros are not the ones misleading on this forum, instead it's ones that say "that's not the same barrel path as we see in a game". That is misleading, because 90% of people involved in this discussion understand that the pros are isolating hands in their demos, that's what they chose to talk about and demo, we all know there are missing pieces in the demo, but still we get comments about how the barrel path doesn't match which causes some people to miss a very good point they are making. The pros talk about and isolate the hands for a reason.
@julray, don't you see that even you say that...
We've already established that barrel path in the pro demos(where they isolate hands) will not represent barrel path in a game swing because of the missing ingredients. Every time it keeps circling back to this. Can we all agree on this and leave it behind us?

JD's swing on the left is ABAF and lacking posture, two of the ingredients missing in a pros down to demo

JMHO
That's all any of "us" are saying, they're not the same barrel paths...demo to game swings.

Now not one of "us" have said that with proper sequence and posture that the "swing down" won't turn into the "behind and through" path that "we're" looking for...and have in fact told members here who use the "swing down" or "down to" instruction with their hitter(s), that they've done well with them, and that we liked their swings.

It's all about the getting the same results - getting the barrel path seen in MLB hitters' game swings - regardless of the method of instruction, and/or the cues used in getting there.
