Dude... 18 push-ups is pretty awesome!

Ya, once the bristles are gone on those tees, (or if they are a straight hard tee to begin with) they can really go flyin' if your DD nails them with an upward attack angle of the bat.

Yeah it was the straight hard tee to begin with... and then I cut away the hard part that held the ball and now we are using the even firmer material... this is something I will most certainly look into.

You can see how much she stands up on the front leg during the swing. Check out the background to see how much the head moves up from the negative move position to contact.

Posture, posture, posture.

Shawn, that's in the title of the thread I began :). I understand what you are saying and appreciate your comments. The question now is how to resolve it.. a drill would help enforce this more than me just telling her.. like I have been doing

Yeah I know it was the title of the thread, just breaking the swing down.

Do you understand posture in the swing?

IMO it's more than a drill to fix an issue that you are looking for. I think you need to look way further upstream. I wish it was as easy as find a problem, do a drill, fix the problem. Although she is probably having success she needs to change her pattern to reach her potential.

She lacks resistance in her swing. Coil, pullback, turn barrel. Seems simple but obviously a lot of work goes into that. The swing is about the loading process. She needs to get coiled and pullback against her rear leg while moving out. Remove all the slack.........And when it's time.....SNAP. Turn that barrel to the ball......If this was one of my players we would start by working to establish a tight hand pivot point and learning how to swing from one leg. Without a rear hip pivot point the swing cannot have the suddenness that the best in the game have. If you fix the under the hood issues the surface issues will correct themselves.........

Here's something I do with my 3 DDs...
If you have a mirror that's big enough, or in a room with big windows at night, your DDs can see their reflection.

I have them look at the gifs these guys have posted, or repeatly watch the best GIF in all of GIFdom, the Miggy Side Slo-mo on Noontimebaseball...(Page 2, second GIF down on Miggy's gifs...)

Then I have them watch themselves in the reflection in the window as they swing a bat at a tee, or free air swing a wiffle ball bat.

It's kinda like a ballerina or a dancer (or a boxer :D) watching their body move as they master a routine or a dance move, I guess...

My bad, there's been so much content in this thread I wasn't sure if you realized this is the initial problem that I started with... no I have no idea what you mean by posture in the swing

Posture is seen in 2 ways, One from the side view, as in the stills I posted of your daughter and Donaldson. Donaldson having a attack posture (tilted forward). This posture changes to the hips working under the head.

And 2 from the rear view or front view of the amount of tilt over the plate.

Your daughter is tilted in the stance and negative move, but doesn't maintain the tilt throughout the swing (stands up out of her posture).

Thanks and no offense at all. But strength is not the issue. She has very good bat speed and bats 3, 4 , 5 in the lineup. Last year at age 11 she almost hit the ball out on a 220 foot field. The most push ups I've seen her do is 18 in a roll ... the bat is light, Demarini CF9 31/21. Strength is not the issue, but I do appreciate your suggestion

It seems that you understand that your DD's current swing won't scale and her past successful results are in spite of her mechanics. If so, you should also understand that no little tweaks or tee model change are going to be of significant long term help. Most who have been here at DFP for a while have been where you are now - be patient, less sensitive, and risk taking a backwards step today to build the foundation of a mechanically sound swing that won't limit your DD's future success.
