What are you guys recommendations within the Vinci brand for a 9 yr old who plans to use the glove for several years going forward? I'm thinking 11.5" to 12"... anyone think 12" is too big for a 9 yr old? She's an infielder and plays the 3, 4, 5, and 6 positions... maybe some pitching here soon. Thanks in advance!

My 9 yr old needs a new one soon too and I'm starting to research maybe getting one that'll hold up better than her inexpensive Mizuno. She has loved it but it's about had it at this point. Pitcher and short stop is mostly what she plays (she plays 1B occasionally but has a 1B glove already).

My DD got a new Vinci for Christmas. The first thing I did when I received it from Casedawg51 was to treat it with a generous coating of Obenauf's leather protector, and place a ball (in a zip lock bag) in the pocket, wrap everything in saran wrap, then apply a "glove locker" and put it aside for a week. I also highly recommend using the glove locker to store the glove with a ball in the pocket. A kip leather Vinci will still be stiff, but I bet this treatment cut the break in time in half, from @ 3 weeks to 1.5 weeks.

My kids use Wilson gloves. Of course, they do so because the price is right. ;)

Hard to go wrong with an A2000. The leather is good, the glove is light and they last a good long time. The only complaint I have ever heard about them is that they may be a bit loose on girls with small hands.

Too big or not will depend on your 9yo. 12" might be fine, or it might be too much. The variation in size and strength of 9yo girls makes it very hard to make a blanket recommendation based on age alone.

Not to be judging anyone else's recommendations, but I wouldn't be buying a glove for a 9-year-old with the plan of using it for several years. I'd be buying a disposable glove in the sub-$100 range for the next year or two then I'd start looking at something with better leather.

I tend to agree with this. Once they get to the 12" ball, then it's time to look at a long-term choice.

Thanks for all the replies and guidance. One thing I failed to mention is she does have small hands. In fact she is an '03, and only weighs 82lbs and about 4' 8". not sure if that would matter on the gloves mentioned.
