Some instructors teach that there is no stride ... only a loading of the rear leg ... which may coincide with a movement forward that some refer to as a stride. The point being, not to focus on the stride, so much as on the loading action of the rear leg.

Call it what you'd like ... ... ... I'm a fan of Pujols' lower body mechanics.

As I said "before someone gets excited and posts a Pujols gif, (or several) that is a stride too."

I also like Pujols lower half....is it the same as the "preferably female" asked for such as Smith above?

Comes down to one's definition of a 'stride'. Do both of these swings contain what you call a stride?

Nice gifs. You could probably make them more useful to some members if you could cover your opinion on the adjustments of the two locations and speed. Lots of young hitters have that problem.

Outside slider, maybe hard slider vs inside fastball.

RHC ... I'm not excited ... only had one cup of coffee so far this morning :).

I've seen a lot of damage done by folks 'directly' teaching a stride. IMO the focus should be with respect to the loading of the rear leg, and not on the stride.

I have a hitter that converted over to a no-stride approach this winter. Basically we retained, and improved, her forward-by-coiling action while at the same time she wished to have her front leg not 'stride/move' forward (... her HS coach doesn't allow freshman to stride ... and hence the incentive). Her lower body was pretty much modeled after Pujols ... and she's done a fairly good job of matching it. The conversion didn't take long ... and was primarily learned from the 45-degree SnF drill ... along with a fair amount of dry swings, tee swings and cage swings with feedback. She hits the living snot out of the ball and can handle any speed pitch from 46-66mph (actual speeds).

Very good.

Now, how is batter 3 adjusting from "toe stride" up for the off speed outside vs fastball inside? What did he physically have to adjust in the micro second he recognized the pitch, and why?

"why don't you just sick to checkers grandpaw". HAHA I couldn't resist. I'm sorry I dont know. I just posted the gifs to make it easier for the smarter posters.
