No tournament for us this weekend. But we will be practicing. We are back at it next weekend, and by the looks of it, we will easily be the youngest team out of 36 registered. Should be interesting.

Added -- Headed to Columbus, Ohio July 14 to July 18 and have never been there before. It looks like our game schedule will give us an open Saturday night. Any ideas how to spend the time?

Finishing up our first go around in the Sparkler Jr.
Bracket play starts today at 4 for DD's team. Crossing our fingers the rain holds off.
Girls have been having a great time seeing some great competition.

Picking up Jake and DD#1 who accompanied DW on a 7 day Disney Cruise as she deployed new software. Tough job but someone has to do it. Jake had surgery on her throwing wrist a week ago so it will be interesting to see how bad the cast looks. I asked the surgeon while he was in there to add a change up tendon for next season. :) Practice on Sunday and another opportunity to work with a 2019 pitcher that will be playing with us in the future. At 6'-5" she certainly has some potential.

Weekend off.
Everyone home by this afternoon. It's been getting too quiet here. DD 1 and 2 will be home from their summer programs.

Since no tourney this weekend, DD 3 ran with the XC team today. She will be doing more of that. She is more of a sprinter, but track is the same time as softball. She will probably run XC in the fall. That should help her stamina, and maybe even her base running. Also meet new friends. One of the best state parks in the US is about an hour drive from here, and she just left to go to the park with the XC team.

DD 3 had some very disappointing tourneys recently. They need the time off. The other starting pitcher has been injured, and limited to a few innings per tournament pitching (she can still play 1B). The starting catcher fractured a finger in the last tourney. Several girls, including DD 3, were in a hitting slump that cost them at least two games. :-(

On a bright note, DD 3 guested with a friend's team in league play yesterday, for a double header. In the first game DD 3 hit a triple, so maybe her hitting slump has ended. They lost that game.

The second game, DD 3 got to pitch 3 innings against a team she had really wanted to join a few years back. The team was invitation only, and DD 3 was upset she was never invited. That is a 14u team, and DD 3 is on a 13u team, so they play against each other only on even numbered years. Anyway, DD 3 pitched a great game, and beat the team that hadn't wanted her. She out-pitched girls who used to be much better than she was. These days DD 3 doesn't WANT to be on the other team anymore. She likes her current team better.

Tournament in Pleasanton, CA Saturday and Sunday. It's an ounce heavier than the bat she is using currently, but looking forward to DD getting to use her new CF9 Hope that arrived last night from Core.

Right Here For Now
Wow, no pressure or anything. Is she nervous? Are you??

No and no;) She worked her butt off this past week as I tweaked her mechanics and she was pretty consistent. We both know that the best thing she can do is just go out and throw and do the best she can. There were no expectations on anyone's part. As a side note, she did extremely well last night. She started off with a HBP, a walk and then settled in to give us 5 great innings. We won 14-6. After the game, she was just too excited and kept saying how much fun she had. That will probably be the last game of her life pitching so I'm glad she had fun. Today we have a guest pitcher coming in so she's off the hook and we get all 3 of our other pitchers back (total of 4) for our last 2 tourneys.

We got rained out for our games yesterday. Girls had just taken the field when a torrential downpour started. It went on for about 45 minutes. No let up. The girls gear was all soaked! DD's is laying all over our garage trying to dry out. 3 gloves, catchers gear, 2 helmets and a bag that was literally filled 2 inches deep with water. Yuck! Hoping for a better day today.
