Spoke to one of the dads whose daughter was headed to Oregon ST. He said all but two girls committed to SEC or Pac10. They were a pretty good sized team compared to ours.

DD put the ball in play both at bats but not for hits. She made a webgem play behind the plate. P threw one very high that got over DDs glove. She spun around and caught it in the air after it bounced off the hard part of the backstop, stepped in the line and tagged the girl coming from 3rd. She said she'd seen balls bounce past catchers running to get them so she decided to wait and it worked perfectly. The kid coming home had this ah Sh!t look knowing she was about to be out.

We played at the Fountain Valley fields and saw a pretty good number of coaches on Friday morning and Saturday night. None to speak of on Sunday at all, and Saturday morning was pretty quiet as well. Most of my DD's team is already committed, so no big deal, but I'm looking forward to playing at the HB complex next year (which is where we have been told we will be if we return).

Our team was 7-1-1 on the weekend and DD played very well. Got a couple of looks even though she's already committed. Not sure how to move forward with that (one is a school that had not seen her before she committed, but is a school she'd be interested in attending if offered).

My non-scientific survey indicates most college coaches who attend showcases do not show up on Sundays....it is a travel day for them and they do not want to burn one of their recruiting days watching just one or two games before they leave.

We played Saturday afternoon/evening and the first two games Sunday. Probably 10-12 coaches total for Sunday. We only have 2 committed kids so maybe there is more to look at.

This brings up a very interesting question. Say your DD is verbally committed to a school for a partial athletic scholarship, but another school sees her play and offers her a much higher %, reducing the players out of pocket expense considerably. How do you handle this situation? Do you go back to the coach of the school where your DD is verballed and ask if they can match the offer?

Ohana Tigers are the old Southern Cal Athletics - Quarles team.
SCA was their 3rd org. The Quarles brothers founded Cerritos Franchise in 2007; joined Firecrackers in 2010 for the name; moved to SCA in 2012 due to proliferation of FC teams; founded Ohana last winter with a 16U team and have 10 teams now from 10U-18U.

Here's an interview where Shawn talks about founding Ohana and concerns about overuse injuries - https://youtu.be/fNWJBuizrR0.

Their 14U team played in the Don Battles tourney this weekend but unfortunately they played 2 of their 4 games against the eventual champion (Firecrackers HB-Ryono) and runner up (SoCal Athletics-Mercado/Smith). They look to be a quality team but I'm still unsure about those incredible hulk green uniforms?
