if you can throw you can hit.
if you throw well, learn how you throw.
then teach your student how to throw the same way/same pattern.
then learn what carries over from throw to swing and what does not.
then learn how you swing.
then teach your student how to swing.
then teach how to hit,etc
if you can not throw in the high level pattern, do yourself a favor and find someone else to teach your student how to trow and swing.
just my opinion.

Here is a different angle. Pay attention to the wrinkles/creases in the back of the jersey above the belt to determine when the uncoil or forward weight shift begins.

wassup said:"Dan had a pretty simple question: Is it fair to say that we rotate/uncoil to go forward? He asked that in the context of working with his daughter on "the move."

That's a simple question ?

what is rotating ? what's the axis ?

how does that relate to "coil" ?

is turning the same as rotation ?

what did Dixin mean by "forward by turning" ?

does turning forward mean you are "uncoiling" ?

What is "uncoiling" ?

simplicity is usually oversimplified to the point of preventing success as opposed to simplicity on the other side of complexity.

Tom, It always seems in your post that you answer a question with a question. You never seem to offer any advice on anything just more questions. How about offer some useful info about the high level swing and not about the GOLF swing.

dan -

this was not a question:

if you can throw you can hit.
if you throw well, learn how you throw.
then teach your student how to throw the same way/same pattern.
then learn what carries over from throw to swing and what does not.
then learn how you swing.
then teach your student how to swing.
then teach how to hit,etc
if you can not throw in the high level pattern, do yourself a favor and find someone else to teach your student how to trow and swing.

Patrick Murphy at Alabama emphatically states that when you stride the weight stays back-
I would say that you start to uncoil when your hands come forward

Would you perhaps view it as the hands come forward when you start to uncoil? I'm thinking more along the lines of the hips initially pulling the hands forward.
