I see a lot of people posting about "Playing catch underhand". Just want to ask for clarification and if a video could be posted to demonstrate? Don't mean to sound dumb, but I want to get it right. THANKS!
I dont have a video handy but think of how you throw over hand to warm up but doing it under hand. When my DD and I warm up, we start over hand then we alternate over and under hand while increasing distance.
Im sure someone will have some video or GIFs that they can post.
You're probably confused because its that simple. Just play catch, but throw underhand vs overhand.
I like to stress that while we're not using leg drive, the lower half is going along with the flow and the feet aren't rooted. If you follow BoardMember's progressions in the IR thread's, you're playing underhand catch.
Forget about pitching for the moment and just learn/teach to throw overhand and underhand properly. Treat both equally and try to get DD past the mental hurdle that UH is complicated and only to be used in strict pitching form .
For overhand we use Wasserman High Level throwing.
For underhand we use the IR thread listed here.
During the year it is just part of warming up to play or pitch.
