Is this just the teams reaction to how they are seeded in a tournament?

It's basically a seeding show and at large invitation for teams that did not win their conference or conference tourney. Getting their reactions is just for show and reaction. For D1 they will have cameras in the meeting rooms and sometimes an actual reporter. I just watched the D3 selection show and they interspersed video footage and still shots as they announced the regional brackets.

Belhaven (ASC Conference) did not win the conference championship, but their book of work for the year was good enough for an at large invite. For D1 look at the SEC. Nearly every team got an invite.

And unfortunately for many D2 and D3 teams the numbers of teams in the tourneys are less than normal due to Covid.
