Fastpitch mechanics just don't allow for a good defensive position. Not floating a pitch is not a possibility. Everyone gives up the heart of the plate. It's a toss up. Personally I can't see why anyone wouldn't wear a mask. In the GIF it looks like it skipped off her wrist before it hit. Hopefully that's the case

I didn't get to see the game. I just saw the headline and gif. It looks like her glove defected a lot of that hit before it got to her head. I just hope she's OK and doesn't have too severe of an injury.
