Like I said last time around. Few can do the drill and maintain the aspects of a high level swing. I don't recommend it.

I’ve used something like this drill before to prove a point when I had a kid who was casting, stirring the pot or what you want to call it. I would set a tee extended all the way out facing the batter and do front toss to show them they were casting. They hit the tee instant feedback and have them feel the correct swing path by not hitting the tee, I was not trying to burn muscle memory, but to see, feel and fix it.

I don't like the emphasis on pulling everything...but it works for these guys because the lefties have the short fence in RF.

I think Long also talks about spinning the rear leg...I know I have seen a clip of him showing it...
It's not pulling everything, it is pulling the inside pitch with power.
Maybe that's why Cano can't hit the ball oppo.

I take it you've never looked at a spray chart of Cano's ABs.

I had never seen this drill before. I like it for hitters who get jammed easily. The goal for all hitters is to eliminate the "holes" in their swings. I will try this drill with hitters who have difficulty hitting inside pitches with authority consistency. I also like that it emphasizes the lower body, which is challenging for many softball hitters.

Thanks for sharing.

Good luck with this drill. Since your 'hitting style' is the power V at contact. This drill is not going to work for that thought. Keep me posted it will be interesting to read your next blog posting.

During a baseball or softball swing, both arms should be stiff, forming a “V” shape at impact with the ball. I call this the “Power V”. Yes, everything I teach is geared toward power. Other hitting instructors teach this type of extension, but I believe few know why it is so important. The extended arms are the culmination of the kinetic energy that began in the ground. Good extension, at the moment of impact with the ball, is like a “lightning bolt”. Bent arms at the moment of impact mean hitters are trying to guide the bat with the arms, resulting in lost power and inconsistency.

Little plug for the blog buddy.
I write a hitting blog at http://torque-hitting.com/

Why do you think that is?

The key is to keep the “Power V”, without bending either arm.
