Total travel time 1.5 hours 3 times a week for over 2 years plus an extra hour each week for batting. Substantial reduction this year 1.5 plus the 1 hour for batting.

289 miles one way-so a little less than 4 hours. When we go to practice it pretty much kills the whole day-4 hours there, 3 hour practice, grab some food and then 4 hours back...

DD only goes to the weekend practice either Saturday or Sunday unless there is a scrimmage then we also go over for that (unless of course it is during the school year). During the week she either practices with her local HS teammates or with her pitcher. The other days I do hitting practice with her and she does her tee work or she works out at the gym.

Wow!

We turned down offers this year for two teams that were just around 2 hours away...just today selected a team that will take about 1.5 hours during rush hour but that will only be once a week. it's about 35 minutes without traffic which will be once a week (weekend practice). We've been spoiled with her last team so the change will be hard but well worth it we hope!

It was a tough choice for us to make as well last year but it was necessary if DD wanted to play in college. The teams on our side of the state are just basically rec teams that travel so for DD to go to showcases and college exposure tournaments and play competitively then this was what had to happen. Despite the long drives to practice we have not regretted our decision. The only other drawback that you might want to keep in mind is that your drive may also add to tournament travel times - for us not only are the competitive teams on the other side of the state, the competitive tournaments are in that direction too. So we usually get to add 4 hours to the tourney travel times too - the longest one this summer was an 8 hour drive one way for them (Seattle) so it was a 12 hour drive for us...
