Sorry, I've decided to delete this. Don't want to take a chance that my assessment of a local tryout will be read by the wrong person and hurt anyone's feelings. We were guests there.

Carry on. My bad.

Find another tryout if this is the team model. The advice on this site is much better.

Look at Miguel Cabrera. Does he look anything like the instruction your DD received?

You can put the instruction up for critique without mentioning teams or coaches.

From other posts you have made on this site I'm pretty certain you're more knowledgeable than the advice you received.

To review them -

Swing down and through the ball.
Don't drop the shoulders (or tilt) to hit the ball.
Hold the bat with the barrel pointed toward the backstop and don't let it get more than 45 degrees vertical at any point.
Hips go last. Actually the first time I've ever heard that.

Very similar, but his device was much steeper than this.

Glad some of you saw my post before I took it down. I wanted feedback, but didn't want to take any unnecessary risks.

But it was basically a list of hitting myths.

That thing used to be real popular. And much steeper than the one pictured.
