So Cal
and... - For what it's worth my DD wears a 12" infielders glove Pitching, 1B and wore it in the outfield last year.
Tried to buy her a new 1B Mitt when she got the 1B position on her travel team but she would have none of it -
Evidently GAS is not hereditary

Sometimes it develops later in life. Don't give up hope yet. ;)

Is a 1st baseman's mitt going to be more beneficial to her when she plays first base vs. a regular glove?
Yes, without a doubt. If she wants to play 1st base long term the sooner she starts using a 1st baseman's mitt the better. I got my first real mitt at 9 and used it up through my freshman year of HS. If you can afford to have a mitt she uses only when she plays 1B do it.

"Yes, without a doubt. If she wants to play 1st base long term the sooner she starts using a 1st baseman's mitt the better" True... my daughter has used one since around 14U and is 18U now and has scooped many out of the dirt that she probably would not have if using her fielder's glove..
