Most people score the defensive too harshly. Watch how they score MLB games. I have eased up on my scoring against my defense after seeing how they score hits and errors.

I keep score for my DD's team and I use the NCAA scoring rules. It has been immensely helpful. See the link below.

I do get guff from parents that think that a bunt with a error is a triple or that a fielder's choice is a hit.
