As the umpire, I guess I could of told her to stop it, but if the coach brought up the fact that there is no rule against it, could I call unsporting behavior as a warning? Anyone have this before?

Is there a specific rule against the batter kicking dirt all over home plate? Or how about pulling up one of the bases? As someone who has spent time marking fields, it drives me nuts when players do this and umpires allow it.

I'd tell her to stop covering up the field markings and get in the box...10, 9, 8...oh, coach wants time?...7, 6, 5...oh, wait...she's IN the box...play ball!

Let's raise our glasses and toast synthetic turf and permanent field markings.

Not even if requested? Ump drew a line many times against us.

Any umpiring class I have been to we have always been told to NEVER draw a line on the field. An umpire drawing a line can become a protestable situation if it is not drawn exactly where it was suppose to be.
