Hi there,
I'm a former college catcher working with a 12u team and a long time lurker, first time poster here at DFP. I've always been taught as a catcher you should catch the ball with an "arm bar" or straight arm. I've done this all through college and most high level catchers I have seen/competed against also do this but I'm ashamed to say I'm not 100% sure why. For the sake of not teaching my girls something purely because I have always done it this way can anyone speak to what advantage this provides?
