Yeassss... I see those two good ole boys fooling themselves and I have to laugh. I bet if you stood there and held the gun still they'd tell you what you were doing it wrong "knowing" they knew how to work a radar gun to make it read the fastest speeds.. hehehehehhe

Great story. People have a funny idea of how fast fast is.

A few years ago, the parents on a local 14U team were excited about how fast their #1 pitcher was. Word filtered back to me that the story was she was throwing 60+. I found it amusing since I was her pitching coach and had never clocked her over the mid-50s. But folks love to tell stories.

I find it amazing the difference between a 52/53mph fast ball and one going 57. I thought for sure the one going 57 was a sixty. That four mile an hour difference and the ball made a different sound in the air.

A 60+ pitch certainly hurts a ton more than a 55 when the catcher misses it.

Pitching coach called me tonight and thanked me for allowing DD to start catching her at lessons. Said it was going to be a tool for both of them and especially the pitcher to see the strike zone better.
