That was a absolutely great call. The legs are irrelevant, how the fielder ended up prone is irrelevant, the location of the runner and how he came to that location is irrelevant. What is relevant is that the runner was obstructed by a defender not fielding a batted ball, not in possession of the ball and not setting up to or in the act of receiving a thrown ball.

Since this is a FP softball board, I feel the need to remind everybody that the bolded part above DOES NOT apply in the game of Softball. The exception would be NCAA, which still has "about to receive a thrown ball" as part of their rule set.

I think we are going to learn what an intentional walk looks like, Ortiz is on fire and you cannot pitch to him if anyone is on base.

I thought he retired 5 years ago.

(I am a Cubs fan, our 50 year plan is looking good. Watch out in 2063!)
