Prayers sent!
Thank you, JAD. I'm at the clinic right now getting ready to go in. I'll keep you updated.
Prayers sent!
I'll do that. I'm getting ready to go into the walk-in clinic now. The elbow right now is more sore than anything. It's the grabbing, gripping throwing and rotating the arm that makes it hurt more than anything. It's a shooting, spasming almost electrical like pain when I'm like gripping, holding or throwing shooting to the hand. If I rotate certain ways it shoots to the shoulder. The pain when it goes to the shoulder isn't quite as intense as it is to the hand. Right now I just have the elbow wrapped in an ace bandage. How I got injured was I was batting in the third inning of our semifinal game. I got plunked by a 2-1 pitch I estimate to have been thrown somewhere in mid 50 mph range that got me just below the elbow. I held my elbow as I was running down to first. I don't own an elbow gaurd...but I will now. It was my left elbow that got hurt and I'm a lefty.
I just got out of the walk-in clinic so I figured I'd update you guys.
The doctor isn't 100% sure what is going on with my injured left elbow. The doctor said that he thinks that my elbow is just severely bruised on the inside and swollen that it's pressing up against nerves in there causing the pain I'm experiencing. But he didn't rule out that I possibly fractured my elbow either. So I'm being referred to a orthopedic specialist in Philadelphia who is supposed to be one of the best in her field. I go to see her on Wednesday. In the meantime, I'm told that I can play...but I can only play a limited amount of innings and that he doesn't want me batting. He also gave me a cortisone injection in my elbow saying that it should help bring down some of the swelling and dull pain to the point that I shouldn't feel it much.
Personally, I wasn't too enamored by the doctor I had at the clinic. I would have rather went to my regular doctor...but she had no openings to see me today. Plus the injury wasn't something I needed to go to the ER for anyway. We will have to wait until Wednesday and see what the orthopedist has to say.
That doesn't sound like tendinitis. My totally-uneducated guess...bruising and swelling putting pressure on a nerve. Fingers crossed that that's all it is.
Hmmm....that sounds familiar....
Heal fast, Gabby!
