Question about NSA 8u coach pitch. One of the better 8u teams has a coach pitcher that tells the girls to swing, don't swing, no, high, yes, anything to help his girls. Is this illegal? Our coach thought it was but we couldn't find it in the NSA rule book.

There's a reason you can't find this in the rule book. There's nothing there about it. Generally, if the rules don't prohibit something, then you're allowed to do it.

This is just a coach who is coaching his players. Nothing illegal about that. Though as as coach, you would think that for the sake of developing your players you would want them to be deciding when to swing or not swing for themselves.

We played in some 8U tournaments last year where no coaching of the batter by the coach from the circle was allowed but they were all tournament specific rules.

There were no tournament rules on this. I would also think that the coaches should let the girls think on there own. Sure these girls would still have hit good, but who knows.

Its perfectly legal, not terribly smart if you're trying to develop players as you should be in 8U. I like to ask them after an AB what they saw on a particular pitch (high, low, inside, outside) just to make sure they are watching the ball, but they have to figure out when to swing without us.
