Ha! The bracket I have shows UCLA and Bama on the same side????????

Time for a reset - we all looking at the same bracket here?
2014 NCAA Softball Tournament DI | NCAA.com

Then my memory is that the only limitation on who COULD meet up in the finals is that two teams can't be from the same OR adjacent Regionals (because adjacent regional winners would meet each other in the Supers and get eliminated)

So I don't think there are "sides" in this bracket like you might be thinking in the case of March Madness.

RT if you raised all this commotion for nothing you're gonna owe us a beer! And an import at that!

Alright here goes:
Oregon, Auburn, Arizona St., FSU, UCF, BYU, Baylor, UGA, UCLA, Kentucky, Arizona, La-Laf, Texas A&M, Tenn., Missouri, Bama

Oregon, UCLA, FSU, Arizona, Bama, UGA, Tenn, UCF

National Champion: Bama over UCLA 13 runs

You also can't get 2 teams that play each other in their first WCWS game to meet up again in the championship (e.g. FL and GA).

The WCWS consists of 2 double-elim brackets to determine the 2 teams for the championship series. What isn't obvious is the losers of the 2nd-round games in the winners brackets actually cross over to the other bracket instead of following the dashed line. There is no route for the losers of the first round games to cross over. See 2012 WCWS Bracket

You can get 2 finalists that start in the same bracket, but it is very difficult for a team to get there through a losers bracket.
