His head doesn't have a negative move. If it does it's very slight. So I don't think it's a backwards to go forwards

Who said anything about the head moving? The head stay still for many hitters. Has no bearing on if he went backwards first.
I believe you coil and that means you go back.
Ok how do you fight to stay back?
Ok here is the swing at full speed. It’s a good speed to look at to actually see the coil and leverage against the back leg. You can see the going backwards to go forwards.

You have to remember he's starting open so what seems like going back is him closing from open. Imo
Makes no difference open, square, stride, don’t stride, the underlying movements are the same.
